Dhaka University (DU) has announced plans to construct a new hall named the "Bangladesh-China Friendship Hall" to address the long-standing shortage of space for female students.

On Sunday, the initiative was confirmed in a statement issued by the university's public relations office.

According to the statement, the project, valued at BDT 244 crore (BDT 2.44 billion), will be financed by the Chinese government. Currently, the plan is under review for approval by the relevant ministry.

The DU administration asserted its commitment to resolving the accommodation problems faced by female students. Measures taken to address these issues include the provision of bunk beds in the existing hostels.
