Police have arrested two leaders of the banned organization Bangladesh Chhattra League (BCL) from Gauripur upazila in Mymensingh district.
They were arrested after a case was filed with Gauripur Police Station over a violant procession centered the founding anniversary of the party, on January 4, 2025.
The arrested BCL leaders are Tarfin Miah, 20, joint secretary of Sohonati Union BCL unit, and Naem Ahmed Nibir, 20, a BCL activist.
According to the case statement, on January 4, some BCL activists brought out a procession to observe the founding anniversary. At that time, they exploded some cocktails and chanted slogans against the interim government.
Following this incident, police filed a case with the police station before arresting the duo for their involvement in the incident.
Mazharul Anower, officer-in-charge of Gauripur Police Station, said that arrested individuals have been sent to jail.
