Dengue: Two more die, 70 hospitalised

Two more people died from dengue while 70 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever in the last 24 hours till Monday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

This year, the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh rose to three.

The DGHS added, the recent fatalities have been reported in the Dhaka and Chattogram divisions (outside the city corporations).

Of them, 8 dengue patients were admitted in hospital under Dhaka North City Corporation while 16 were hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation.
Currently, 400 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.

According to the DGHS, there were 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in 2024.
