Man killed in clash over occupying char

ULIPUR, KURIGRAM, Jan 6: A man was killed in a clash between two groups over occupying char land in Ulipur Upazila of the district on Sunday.

The incident took place in Karpura Char under Daldalia Union of the upazila at noon.

The deceased was identified as Darbesh Ali, 52, son of Sipar Akanda, a resident of Thetrai Union in the upazila. 

Police and local sources said that two groups of Sabur Mia and Ismail Hossain were at loggerheads over occupying a char lank at Karpura for long. 

On Sunday noon, the two groups were locked into a clash, which left Darbesh Ali killed on the spot and at least 10 people from the both sides injured.

Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it Kurigram Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Officer-in-Charge of Ulipur Police Station Jillur Rahman confirmed the incident.
