Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal on Tuesday expelled a local leader for beating former officer-in-charge (OC) in Chattogram.
Shahidul Islam Shahid, member secretary of Chawkbazar Police Station for the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal, has been expelled from all party positions, including primary membership, following his alleged involvement in assaulting former officer-in-charge the police station, Nezam Uddin.
The expulsion was confirmed in a notification issued on Tuesday, signed by Metropolitan Swechchhasebak Dal Office Secretary M Abu Bakar Raju.
According to the statement, Shahid's actions were deemed a violation of party discipline.
The decision was executed by the Metropolitan Swechchhasebak Dal leadership, with President HM Rashed Khan and General Secretary Belayet Hossain Bulu endorsing the disciplinary measure.
The incident occurred on Monday afternoon near a private school adjacent to the regional passport office under Panchlaish Police Station. Shahid reportedly beat and humiliated Nezam Uddin, prompting swift action from the party to address the matter.
