Wild elephant tramples farmer in Cox's Bazar

COX'S BAZAR, Jan 7: A farmer guarding a field at Phansiakhali of Chakaria in the district was killed in a wild elephant attack. 

The incident took place at around 11:30 pm on Monday in Dakshin Ghunia area under Phansiakhali Union.

Deceased Faridul Alam, 27, son of the late Ali Ahmed, was a resident of Dakshin Ghunia area.

According to locals, farmer Faridul Alam was guarding his paddy field in the hilly area of Dakshin Ghunia. At that time, he suddenly fell in front of an elephant. He tried to run away but failed. He died after being crushed under the elephant's feet.
 
When the elephant entered the forest around midnight, locals recovered Farid's body and took it home.

Cox's Bazar North Forest Division Phaniakhali Range Officer Mehraj Uddin confirmed the news.
