NARAYANGANJ, Jan 7: His parents' dream was to see him as a big singer of Islamic songs.

Along with learning of Hadith course, Mahbubur Hossain Rabbi also passed Dawra course from Darul Ulum Bage Jannat Madrasa at Chashara in Narayanganj town.

He would render Islamic songs as a member of Kolorob, a music team.

Along with others, Rabbi joined the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement on August 5.

Rabbi was son of Abdul Hai and Shahnaj Begum of Dakkhin Shiarchar Bottala area at Fatullah, Narayanganj. He was their only son.

He went out to take part in Bangabhaban Gherao programme. Before going out, he had his last breakfast with his parents in the morning on August 5. After the breakfast, he went out taking permission from his parents. He was firstly prevented by his parents, but he ignored their barrier.

His father Abdul Hai said, their only son was a Hafiz of Quran; he was killed in police firing on August 5 in Dhaka's Jatrabari area.

"I am a small businessman. Rabbi would assist me in running our family. He would earn money along with education. We want 'martyrdom' dignity for him."

Mother Shahnaj Begum said, "Sheikh Hasina's terrorists killed my son by shooting. We want to identify the killers including police soon and bring them under law."

"My son would render Islamic songs always. His many songs were uploaded on YouTube," she added.

She further said, "We want justice of Rabbi's killing. We want 'martyrdom' dignity."
