Home Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury  on Tuesday asked the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to complete the investigation process and bring charges of money laundering against the persons being probed.

"I want a quick report about the people involved in the money laundering," he told journalists after visiting the CID and Special Branch (SB) headquarters at Malibagh in the city.
Mentioning that money laundering is one of the major problems that occurred during the immediate-past government, the Home Adviser asked the CID not to linger the investigation without valid reasons  rather submit a report quickly.

"If you take one and a half year or two years or three years to complete investigation into the allegations of money laundering, it will no longer be effective," he said. During the visit to the CID, the Home Adviser exchanged views with the force personnel.

At the meeting, Jahangir asked the CID to take more effective measures in checking the money laundering and handle the properties with care that was attached for the money laundering charges.

He called for taking special measures to control cyber crimes after visiting the Forensic Lab at the CID.

The Home Adviser expressed satisfaction over performance of the forensic unit of the CID in dealing with the recent fire effectively at number seven building of the Bangladesh Secretariat.
