The name of the under-construction building at 'Jatir Jonok Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall' at Dhaka University (DU), was renamed 'July Shaheed Smriti Bhaban (July Martyrs Memorial Building).'
On Tuesday, the provost of the hall, Prof Dr Akhtaruzzaman confirmed this. He stated, "We had asked the students for suggestions on what the new building should be named. The students proposed the name 'July Shaheed Smriti Bhaban' from four options."
He added, "Subsequently, we proposed the name to the university administration. Yesterday, it was approved in the Syndicate meeting, and the Vice-Chancellor signed on it. Today, we received the official approval."
Dr Akhtaruzzaman also mentioned, Prof Tanzim Uddin Khan a UGC member, said that they would provide approval for the matter by the end of the month. Once those arrangements were completed, they believed they would be able to inaugurate the building.
