Commerce Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin has said that there is no shortage of rice in the market.

"We are going through the full Aman season. Right now, we do not see any logical reason for this price in the market."

Adviser Sheikh Bashiruddin made this statement during the inauguration of TCB's product sales to low-income families at subsidised prices, which was held on Wednesday morning in the capital.
"We think that the price hike is unreasonable. We are monitoring the situation, and the rice market will soon come under control."

He said that the activities of the Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) will now be conducted through the Smart Family Card, replacing the paper-based system.

"We have recognised the issues and are working to eliminate irregularities by digitalising the process."

Discussing the potato market, the adviser said, "Based on this year's experience, the government will stockpile potatoes for next year. Efforts are being made to store potatoes in warehouses."
