Amidst rumors of retirement, former Bangladesh captain Tamim Iqbal has yet to decide on his participation in the upcoming ICC Champions Trophy.
Following a meeting with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) chief selector Gazi Ashraf Hossain on Wednesday in Sylhet, Tamim stated that a decision would be made within the next two to three days after consulting with his family and close advisors.
The selectors are eager to finalize the 15-member squad ahead of the January 12 ICC submission deadline, with national team captain Najmul Hossain Shanto openly expressing his desire for Tamim’s inclusion.
"Discussions don't always yield immediate results," Gazi Ashraf told reporters. "Players often need time to reflect and seek guidance before making a significant decision like returning to the national team."
Tamim, who last represented Bangladesh over a year ago, has been a pivotal figure in the team’s history. His potential return would be a welcome surprise for fans and could bolster the team’s preparations for the Champions Trophy.
The final decision is now anticipated as the selectors, team management, and fans await Tamim’s response.
