The trial of BDR (Bangladesh Rifles) Mutiny cases will begin on Thursday (January 9).
The trial will be held at a makeshift court inside the Dhaka Central Jail in Keraniganj.
The Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs on Wednesday (January 8) issued a notification in this regard.
It was stated in the notification that the trial had been taking place at the Government Alia Madrasa at Bakshi Bazar and at a building on the ground adjacent to the Dhaka Central Jail turning it into a makeshift court. However, the trial process was hampered as the makeshift court was damaged during the July-August student-people movement and obstruction of the students later on.
It also said that it has become almost impossible to bring and take the accused and ensure their security. Since the accused are being kept at the Keraniganj Central Jail, it will be convenient if the trial is held at the makeshift court inside the jail.
The mutiny started on February 25-26, 2009, that had killed 74 people, including 57 army officers serving in the force.
