Jamaat Ameer visits Kuwait

Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman reached in Kuwait on Wednesday for a four-day visit at the invitation of the country's Ministry of Religion.

At Kuwait International Airport, Shafiqur Rahman was welcomed by the President of the Bangladesh Quran Training Center Kuwait Central Committee, Khatib Hafez Maulana Nurul Alam, along with other organisation leaders.
He is scheduled to attend a friendly rally with expatriate Bangladeshis at the tent of Ardia Sanaiya in Kuwait on Friday (10 January) at 5:30 pm.

In a press release on Wednesday, Shafiqur Rahman expressed deep grief over the disaster of the earthquake in the Tibetan region of China on 7 January.

The release stated, "On behalf of myself and the Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, I express deep grief over the earthquake that killed 126 people, injured 188, and destroyed more than 1,000 houses in the Tibetan region of China on 7 January."

"I hope the Chinese government and Tibetan people will be able to overcome this huge loss of life and property soon," he added.

Shafiqur Rahman further said, "I express my condolences to the families and relatives of all those who died in this earthquake and to the Chinese government. I extend my deepest condolences to all those who were injured and affected, and I wish the injured a speedy recovery."
