The 23rd Dhaka International Film Festival (DIFF) will take place in Dhaka from January 11 to 19, 2025. The festival's central theme is "Better Film, Better Audience, Better Society."
The festival will be inaugurated on Saturday (January 11) at 4:00 pm. The festival organizers announced this information at a press conference at Dhaka Club on Thursday (January 9).
They said that as always, this year's festival will screen 220 full-length and short films from 75 countries, including Bangladesh, in the Asian Competition Section, Retrospective Section, Bangladesh Panorama, Wide Angle, Cinema of the World, Children's Film, Spiritual Films, Short and Independent Film and Women's Film Section. A total of 44 films from Bangladesh will be screened among these films. Nahid Islam, Advisor to the interim government's Adviser for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, will be present as the chief guest at the opening ceremony at 4 pm on January 11.
In addition, Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen and Director of the International Department of the China Film Administration Zhu Yang will be present as special guests. The band Joler Gan will perform music on the opening day. The opening film this year will be the Chinese film 'Moon Man' directed by Qiu Zhang.
On this day, a poster exhibition of Chinese films will be inaugurated on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Bangladesh and China. China will be the country focus of this year's festival.
The venues for the film screenings at the festival are the main auditorium and poet Sufia Kamal auditorium of the National Museum, the National Art Gallery of the Shilpakala Academy, Alliance Frauen Auditorium, North South University and Green University Auditorium.
