Police arrested two people along with a dredger machine for illegally lifting sand from Zamuna river at Shivalaya Police Station in Manikganj district district on Thursday morning.
The information was provided through a press release on Thursday by Md Emran Mahmud Tuhin, in-charge of Daulatida River Police Outpost.
The arrested men are Md Sahabuddin, 50, hailed from Barishal district; and Ariful Islam Helal, 35, hailed from Rajbari district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of the police conducted a raid in the area and arrested the duo with the dredger.
The estimate value of the seized in around Tk 65 lakh.
A case has been filed against them in the incident, the police official added.
