Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two drug peddlers along with 47 bottles of foreign liquor from Bayezid Police Station area in Chittagong city on Thursday. A private car and a motorcycle were also seized.
They were arrested from Arefin Nagar Kitchen Market area under Bayezid Police Station around 1:00 am.
The arrestees are Saiful Islam, 38, son of late Zakir Hossain of Badarpur area, a resident of Mehendiganj upazila of Barishal district and Md Sumon, 32, son of late Chan Miah, a resident of Shalla Deopur area under Kalihati thana in Tangail.
According to RAB sources, the arrested men usually collect foreign liquor from the border area of Feni district and sell it to the people of the Chittagong city.
RAB-7 acting deputy director (media) Sadman Sakib (AMC) said that on the basis of secret information, two people were arrested with 47 bottles of foreign liquor from Bayezid Arefin Nagar kitchen market area in the city.
They were handed over to the concerned police station after legal proceedings against them, he added.
