Five held with banned polythene in city

Police arrested five individuals with a large quantity of banned polythene and a pickup truck from Bangshal area of the capital.

The arrestees were -- Anam Fakhrul Islam, 50, Md. Habibur Rahman, 26, Enamul Haque, 28, Md. Azizul Islam, 35, and Md. Zakir Sardar, 32.

Muhammad Talebur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (Media and Public Relations) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, on Thursday disclosed the matter. The seized vehicles and polythene are now in police custody for further investigation.

According to the police, acting on a tip-off, they set up a checkpoint on Abul Hasnat Road on Wednesday. The drivers of the vehicles saw the checkpoint and attempted to flee the place but police able to detained them with the banned polythene.
