A brilliant all-round performance of Jannatul Maoua helped Bangladesh Under-19 Women's team draw the four-match T20 series against hosts Sri Lanka on Thursday as they secured a 21-run victory in the final game in Colombo.

The Bangladeshi girls lost the first two matches that brought them on the brink of a series defeat but they showed unwavering determination in the last two matches to win those, denying Sri Lanka a series victory.

After winning the third game, they now won the fourth match in which Jannatul contributed team-high 24 runs with the willow before taking 3-23 in four overs with the ball.

Bangladesh compiled 126 before being all out in 19.5 overs with Afia Ashima hitting 21 and opener Mosammat Eva adding 20 to complement Jannatul's effort.

Jannatul then took the onus in bowling too to help the side restrict Sri Lanka to 105-8 in 20 overs despite Hiruni Hansika's valiant effort. Hansika was not out on 29 ball-44 but couldn't avoid her side's defeat, largely due to Jannatul's pinpoint bowling.

As part of their preparation for the ICC U19 Women's T20 World Cup, Bangladesh played this series against Sri Lanka. The showcase event will be held in Malaysia from January 12 to February 2.

Bangladesh are drawn in Group D along with Australia, Nepal and Scotland. The junior Tigresses will leave Sri Lanka tomorrow for Malaysia to take part in the tournament.    —BSS
