BHANGA, FARIDPUR, Jan 9: Police recovered the body of a caretaker with tied up his hands and legs from the house of a doctor in Alekhaar Kanda Village under Bhanga Upazila of the district on Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Wahab Matubbar, 70, a resident of Tujarpur Village in the upazila. He had been serving as the caretaker of Dr Jamal Uddin Khalifa's the house for many years, said police after recovering the body.
Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) (Bhanga Circle) Md Asif Iqbal said that the house belonged to the late Dr Jalal Uddin, whose wife and three daughters live in Dhaka but occasionally visit the property.
"Wahab Matubbar was entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining the house. At around 10 pm on Wednesday, local people of the area informed us about his body lying near the second-floor rooftop door," said ASP Asif Iqbal.
On information, police and a team from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) went to the scene and recovered the body, tied up with railing of the stairs.
He might have been hacked and beaten to death by miscreants.
However, the body of the deceased was sent to Faridpur Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy and legal action would be taken in this regard, the police official added.
