Different courts sentenced two people to life-term of imprisonment in separate cases in two districts - Narail and Barishal.
NARAIL: A court in the district on Wednesday awarded life-term sentence to a man for killing a girl after being failed to violate her in 2010.
Additional District and Sessions Court Judge Md Shahjahan Ali handed down the verdict at noon.
The condemned convict is Babul Bala, a resident of Khalishakhali Village under Sadar Upazila.
The court also fined him Tk 10,000, and in default, he has to suffer six more months of rigorous imprisonment.
According to the prosecution, Babul Bala killed a teenage girl after being failed to violate her February, 2010. Later on, he threw the body into a river to disappear it.
In this regard, the deceased's grandfather filed a murder case with Narail Sadar Police Station (PS).
After a long trial, the court pronounced the verdict on Wednesday after examining the case records and taking depositions of 16 witnesses.
BARISHAL: A court in the district on Tuesday sentenced a youth to life-term imprisonment for violating a schoolgirl after abducting her in Bakerganj Upazila in 2018.
Barishal Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Md Rakibul Islam handed down the verdict in presence of the convict.
The convict is Md Harun Molla, 22, son of Md Siddiq Molla, a resident of Kalidasia Village in Bakerganj Upazila.
The court also fined him Tk 1.30 lakh, and in default, he has to suffer six more months in jail.
According to the prosecution, Harun abducted a seventh grader girl of Charamaddi Girls High School in Bakerganj on May 7, 2018, and violated her forcibly.
The victim's father lodged a case with the tribunal accusing six people.
Sub-Inspector of Bandar PS Md A Sabur submitted the charge-sheet to the court on July 13, 2018 against four people.
Following this, the tribunal pronounced the verdict after examining case records and taking depositions of seven witnesses.
