The BNP lodged two complaints with the International Crimes Tribunal alleging killings of 2,276 party leaders and activists in 'crossfire' and disappearing 153 others across the country from 2008 to August 5, 2024.
The complaints alleged that 2,276 of its leaders and activists were killed in 'crossfire' between 2008 and August 5 last year. They also claim that 153 members, including Elias Ali and Chowdhury Alam, were forcibly disappeared during the same period.
Mohammad Salauddin Khan, a Krishak Dal leader and coordinator of BNP's case data collection cell on enforced disappearances and killings, submitted the complaints before the ICT prosecutor office.
The complaints were signed by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
"We have filed two complaints with the office of the chief prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal (ICT), accusing ousted former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, Awami League leaders, and law enforcers of unlawful killings and enforced disappearances of our party leaders activities from 2008 to August 5 in 2024," Md Salauddin Khan, coordinator of the BNP's case data information cell told reporters after filing the complaints.
Advocate Nurul Islam, another member of the cell, was present there during the submission of the complaints.
According to the complaints, the BNP leaders and activists were killed in crossfire during the tenure of the Awami League government in a bid to annihilate BNP.
