The Department of Food Technology and Nutritional Science (FTNS) at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University (MBSTU) hosted a combined fresher reception and farewell ceremony on Thursday.
The event welcomed the 19th batch of students for the 2023-24 academic session while bidding farewell to the outgoing 15th batch of the 2019-20 session.
The celebration, organized collaboratively by the department’s faculty and students, aimed to honor the departing graduates and warmly integrate the new students into the academic community.
The program began at 10:00 AM with activities hosted by the Nutrition Club on the fifth floor of the third academic building.
The club arranged a variety of events, including a quiz competition, short essay writing on food and nutrition, open discussions, and creative tasks such as artificial food design and drawings. Students actively participated in these events, and winners were later announced.
In the afternoon, at 4:00 PM, the main ceremony took place in the university’s multipurpose building. The new students were welcomed individually with flowers, followed by a vibrant cultural program featuring performances of music, dance, and poetry recitations by the department’s students.
The event was graced by the presence of the chief guest, Professor Dr. Md. Azizul Haque, who commended the department's achievements and encouraged the students to contribute to its continued success.
The outgoing students shared heartfelt memories of their time in the department, reflecting on the emotional bond they developed over the years. They were presented with crests as a token of appreciation and recognition. The program concluded with prize distribution for the winners of the morning’s competitions.
The active participation of the department’s faculty, staff, and students contributed to the success of the event, making it a memorable occasion for everyone involved.
