Shahinul Islam made head of BFIU

AFM Shahinul Islam, former executive director of the Bangladesh Bank, has been appointed as the head of Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU).

A notice by the financial institution division of the finance ministry was issued in this regard on Thursday (January 9).
The circular said Shahinul has been appointed as the chief officer of BFIU on a contractual basis, with the rank of deputy governor. The appointment is contingent upon his severing ties with any other institutions or organisations.

He started his career after joining Bangladesh Bank as an Assistant Director in 1993. He was promoted to Executive Director of Bangladesh Bank on March 2, 2022.
