The body of a Bangladeshi national recovered in the Indian state of Tripura has been returned by the country's police after an autopsy.
The body of Zahur Ali, 55, was handed over to Bangladesh police through the old Balla check post under Chunarughat upazila in Habiganj on Thursday (January 9) evening.
The dead Zahur Ali was a resident of Dulna village near Balla border under Chunarughat upazila. He worked as a security guard with an organization in Dhaka.
Chunarughat Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Shafiqul Islam received the body from Subir Malakar, Officer-in-Charge of Khowai Police Station in Tripura state. Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and others were present there at that time.
Zahur returned home from Dhaka on January 4. Then on January 6, Tripura's Khowai police recovered his body from the country's Gaurnagar border area. Later, an autopsy was conducted at Khowai General Hospital.
Quoting Khowai police, Chunarughat Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Noor Alam said according to the Indian police, Zahur died of a heart attack. It is not yet known why and how he infiltrated India.
