Unidentified miscreants reportedly hacked a local Juba League leader and cut-off the tendons of both of his legs in Barishal town on Thursday night.
The leader was Shahriar Sachib Rajib, general secretary of city’s ward-21 unit Juba League.
According to the eyewitnesses, Shahriar was returning home, two youths attacked him from behind with sharp weapons in Gorasthan Road area of the city at around 10PM on Thursday. They hacked him indiscriminately and at one point severed the tendons of both of his legs.
Locals rescued him and took him to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital.
Md Mizanur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Model Police Station, said they have collected CCTV footage and continues drives to nab the two people , who attacked Shahriar.
He said Shahriar sustained injuries on both of his legs, hands and chest. His condition is critical
The CCTV camera footage of the attack soon went viral on social media.
Meanwhile, victim’s sister Shahina Azmin said her brother had a dispute with a man named Bachchu over some issues and claimed that Bachchu was one of the two attackers.
They are taking preparation to take her brother to Dhaka for better treatment.
