Concealing the identity, Dhallywood actress Nipun Akter was trying to leave the country through Sylhet Osmani International Airport on Friday morning.
She was scheduled to go to London by a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 9:30am on Friday (January 10). However, she was barred from boarding the flight by immigration police. Then she was taken into custody.
The immigration police said the National Security Intelligence Service (NSI) raised objections to actress Nipun's London trip. Airport authorities then took her into custody for questioning.
On condition of not to disclose the names, Sylhet Airport officials said Nipun Akter was trying to go to London with a passport of one Nasrin Akter concealing her own name. At that time, her passport was offloaded by the immigration authorities. Since there was no case against her, the National Security Intelligence (NSI) personnel let her go.
The airport sources said BNP leader Mirza Abbas and Bangladesh Jatiya Party leader Andaleev Rahman Partha were also on the London-bound flight. The Biman's flight flew to London at 10:00am.
Earlier, Nipun came at Sylhet Osmani International Airport from Dhaka by road. Two youths greeted her over there. Then she was taken to go through the immigration process. After being offloaded by the immigration authorities, Nipun again left Sylhet by road.
There are allegations that the actress was regularly found in various publicity related programmes of Awami League. Not only it, she expanded her influence on Film Artistes Association using the names of Sheikh Selim and Awami League. She also succeeded to grab the chair of general secretary of the artiste association.
However, in an interview with an online news portal late Friday evening, Nipun denied what had happened to her at Sylhet Airport. She said she was at her Banani residence.
