Mehedi elected Prez, Badsha GS

Mirza Mehedi Tamal of Bangladesh Pratidin and MM Badsha of Bangla TV have been elected as president and general secretary respectively of the Crime Reporters Association of Bangladesh (CRAB) for 2025.

The election was held on Friday at the Nasrul Hamid Auditorium of Dhaka Reporters Unity in the capital's Segunbagicha, where voting took place from 9 am to 4:30 pm.

Mehedi Tamal secured 128 votes, defeating his nearest rival, Mahbub Alam Lablu of Jugantor, who bagged 95 votes. 

MM Badsha was elected general secretary with 181 votes, while his closest competitor, SM Nuruzzaman, garnered 104 votes.

For the vice president post, Umar Faruq Alhadi won with 159 votes, defeating Mizanur Rahman (Masum Mizan), who received 120 votes.

Niaz Ahmed Labu was elected joint secretary with 168 votes, surpassing his rival Abdul Latif Rana, who secured 102 votes.

Sajjad Mahmud Khan became the organising secretary with 158 votes, while his nearest rivals, Saif Bablu and Khandakar Hanif Raja, received 94 and 29 votes, respectively.    —UNB
