2 held with huge foreign cigarettes in Moulvibazar

Police arrested two people along with two thousands packets of foreign cigarettes from Kamalganj upazila in Moulvibazar district on Friday evening. 

The arrested men are Shamim Ahmed, 26, a resident of Dhalia village and Sumon Ahmed, 40, a resident of Amuli village. Both are from Koluara upazila in the district. 

Police said that a team led by sub-inspector Hamidur Rahman conducted a raid on the Kalenga-Munshibazar road under Kamalganj upazila on Friday evening. During the raid, police searched a private car and recovered the cigarettes. The estimated value of the seized cigarette is 2,20,000.

Soyad Iftekhar Hossain, officer-in-charge of Kamalganj Police Station, said that a case has been filed in connection with the incident against them at the police station.
