One dies, 45 hospitalised with dengue

A person died from dengue and 45 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever in the last 24 hours till Saturday morning, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

With the new death, the number of total fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh rose to four this year.

The death has been reported in the Mymensingh division (outside the city corporations).
Of the new patients, nine dengue patients were admitted to the hospitals under Dhaka North City Corporation while 15 were hospitalised in Dhaka South City Corporation.

Some 320 patients are currently receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.

Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people. According to the DGHS, there were 101,214 dengue cases and 100,040 recoveries in 2024.
