Youth 'hacked dead by friend' in M'singh

A youth was reportedly hacked to death by his friend at Gafargaon upazila in Mymensingh district. 

The youth died while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Friday night. 

The information was confirmed by Ferdaus Alam, officer-in-charge of Pagla Police Station. 

The deceased was identified as Shadat Hossain Joy, 19, son of Awlad Hossain, a resident of Balipara village under Dattarbazar union in the upazila. 

Earlier, on Wednesday (January 8, 2025), Sabbir Hossain, 23, called Sahdat out of his home. During an altercation, Sabbir hacked Sahadat and fled the scene. 

Family members rescued him and took him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumed to his injuries on Friday night. 

A case has been filed in this incident with Pagla Police Station.   

The murdered might have happened due to the establishing supremacy in the area, the OC added.
