Bangladesh ace all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's hopes are faded as he is still under suspension from bowling in cricket competitions governed by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB).
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed this in a recent statement.
The suspension follows an independent re-assessment that took place last month at the Sri Ramachandra Centre for Sports Science in Chennai, India. This was after an earlier assessment at Loughborough University in the UK, which had deemed Shakib's bowling action to be non-compliant with the ECB's regulations.
The suspension applies to both domestic and international cricket, and Shakib remains barred from bowling until he successfully undergoes a re-assessment and meets the required standards. Despite the ban on bowling, Shakib is still eligible to play in all formats of cricket as a batsman.
The BCB has made it clear that they are working closely with Shakib to resolve the issue and a successful re-evaluation is necessary for the suspension to be lifted.
This ongoing suspension significantly reduces Shakib's chances of making it to Bangladesh's squad for the Champions Trophy, as his role as a key all-rounder will be hindered without his bowling ability.
