At least 12 individuals were injured in a clash between two rivals over establishing supremacy at Bhanga upazila in Faridpur district.

The conflict took place in two rounds on Friday night and Saturday morning in the vicinity of Harirhat Market.
According to locals, the dispute began when business activities at the ferry ghat near Harirhat Market, which are usually conducted during the monsoon, had been halted due to the dry season. On Friday evening, Rizu and Amir of Baradia village began constructing houses on this unused land. At that time, Naeem, from eastern Algi village, objected to the construction and attempted to stop them, leading to a physical altercation.

As the news spread, the two parties engaged in a violent clash. Local residents tried to mediate the situation but failed, prompting both groups to bring homemade weapons and engage in another round of fighting early Saturday morning. The hour-long confrontation resulted in 12 people sustaining injuries.

Algi Union Parishad Chairman M M Siddique Mia confirmed the cause of the clash and mentioned that the situation was brought under control with the help of police.

Bhanga Police Station officer-in-charge Md. Moksedur Rahman stated that no formal complaint has been lodged by either party. He assured that necessary actions would be taken if any complaint is filed.
