Dhaka Abahani registered a 4-0 win against Chittagong Abahani in the ongoing Bangladesh Premier League Football on Saturday. The Mymensingh District Stadium had witnessed a one-sided match on the day.

In the match, Dhaka Abahani had to wait till the 42nd minute of the match to open the net. Riding a goal by striker Ibrahim, Abahani went ahead three minutes before the short whistle.

Young striker Enamul Islam Gazi doubled the lead for Abahani in the 52nd minute. Ibrahim scored his second in the 66th minute following an assist by Shahriar Emon.

Dhaka Abahani scored the fourth by midfielder Asadul Molla in the 71st minute.

Winning the match, Dhaka Abahani not only collected the full three points, it also moved three steps up to place itself in second place on the point table. While topper Mohammedan Sporting Club has 21 points in seven matches, the sky-blue unit has 16 points from same number of matches.

Although the two arch-rivals Mohammedan and Abahani are in the top positions, some other teams including Old Dhaka's Rahmatganj Muslim Friends Society, Gopibagh's Brothers Union, and Bashundhara Kings are right behind. The toppers, especially, Mohammedan SC, may feel that they are in the clear while the reality is that the others are eagerly waiting for any mistake the toppers make. Also, the league is a long race and anything can happen at any stage of the game. Besides, the second leg may not see the same enthusiasm from the toppers.

The next matches of the leagues will be played on 17 January. A total of three matches will be played on the day. Chittagong Abahani will face Bangladesh Police while Brothers Union will meet Mohammedan Sporting Club and Fakirerpool Young Men's Club will engage with Dhaka Wanderers Club.
