Eating duck meat on in festive manner at Char Fasson

CHAR FASSON, BHOLA, Jan 11: Along with winter pie and payes, eating of duck meat is going on in festive manner in Char Fasson Upazila of the district.

According to hotels and restaurant sources, this winter the demand of duck meat has been double in the upazila.
 
Duck meat is mostly served in different hotels and restaurants, picnic spot in spots like Char Kukri Mukri
The duck business continues increasingly from Kartik to Falgun.

A seller Jasim Polti said, he can sell at least 60 ducks from 9am to 8pm daily; sometimes, he can sell about 100 ducks. But the demand of local duck is higher, he added.

Per piece duck is selling at Tk 700-800. Some ducks sell at Tk 800-1,000 on basis of weights and sizes.

A customer Mamun Maji said, it is a different taste in duck meat in the winter; according to his family demand, he has purchased duck despite the price beyond his capacity.

This year's duck price is a bit higher, he added.

Duck meat is the special menu in many hotels in the upazila, said hotel owners. 

A hotel businessman in Farazi Super Market at Sharif Para in Char Fasson Municipality Rubel said, "We keep all types of duck meat here. So food lovers crowd. Many think the winter is the right time for eating duck meat."

Besides, duck supply is higher in the winter season along with rising demand, he added.
