Man electrocuted while stealing transformer

BOGURA, Jan 11: A man was electrocuted while he was trying to steal a transformer in Adamdighi Upazila of the district on Friday.

The incident took place in Jinair Village under Adamdighi Sadar Union of the upazila at early hours.

The deceased was identified as Abdur Rahman, 42, son of late Osman, a resident of Dalamba Village under the same union.

Quoting locals, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Adamdighi Police Station Mostafizur Rahman said that Abdur Rahman came in contact with live electricity while he was trying to steal a transformer of the Palli Bidyut on a cropland in Jinair Village, which left him dead on the spot. 

Later on, local farmers spotted his body on Friday morning and informed the matter to the police. 

Being informed, police recovered the body and handed it over to the deceased's family members without an autopsy as per their request, the OC added.
