Youth shot, wounded by BSF men in Chapainawabganj

CHAPAINAWABGANJ, Jan 11: A Bangladeshi youth was wounded in firing by the Indian Border Security Force (BSF) at the Azmatpur border here in Shibganj upazila early Saturday.

The injured is Shahidul Islam, 25, son of Anarul Islam of Bagichapara of the upazila, said Lt Col Golam Kibria, Commander of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) 59th Battalion.
The incident happened around 2:00am when a group of six alleged smugglers, including Shahidul, was returning to Bangladesh from India with a consignment of Phensedyl. The group was approximately 130 yards inside Indian Territory, near the Azmatpur border, said the BGB official.
