Members of the Detective Branch of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested two alleged drug peddlers and seized 24kgs of cannabis along with a truck used for transportation of the contraband drug during a raid at Farmgate in the city early Saturday.
The arrested were identified as Md Bashir Hasan, 19, and Md Saiful Islam, 20. Acting on a tip-off, a DB team of DMP's Tejgaon Division conducted the operation around 4:25am, said Deputy Commissioner (Media) of the DMP, Talebur Rahman.
He said the suspects were found with a truck near the Karwan Bazar-Airport-bound road, where they were preparing to sell cannabis.
When the suspects noticed the detectives, they attempted to flee but were arrested. The police recovered the cannabis and seized the truck, which was used for transportation, the DC added.
