Amid protests by 267 excluded candidates of 43rd Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS), the government on Saturday issued a notification appointing all of them and asked them to join by Wednesday, January 15.
They were excluded from the first gazette of issued on October 15.
The Public Administra-tion Ministry issued the fresh notification.
Earlier on Thursday, Public Administration Ministry's Senior Secretary Dr Md. Mokhles Ur Rahman gave hints of allowing those candidates, who do not have any criminal cases, to join the service after a meeting with the deprived candidates at the ministry conference room.
On December 30, 2023, the government has cancelled the gazette published on October 15 for the 43rd BCS recruitment and issued a new one, which excludeds 168 candidates of various cadres.
According to the new gazette of the Ministry of Public Administration, 1,896 candidates recommended by the Bangladesh Public Service Commission (BPSC) have been appointed at entry-level positions in various cadres.
Appointed candidates have been directed to report to their assigned offices under respective ministries by January 15, it read.
Immediately after the issuance of the notification, the dropped out candidates started agitations against the government decision.
