Former lawmaker from Dhaka-10 constituency and ex-president of FBCCI Shafiul Islam Mohiuddin in a case filed over the murder of one Abdur Rouf at Uttara in Dhaka during students’ movement on July 18.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate GM Farhan Ishtiyak passed the order on Sunday after police produced him before the court after end of his three-day remand in the case.
On January 8, Police arrested him from his residence at Sector-4 on road 13 of Uttara. The next day, the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md Zakir Hossain remanded Shafiul in the case.
According to the case documents, on July 18, 2024, Abdur Rouf joined anti-discrimination student movement rally in front of Uttara BNS Centre. At one point, police and Awami League (AL) cadres opened fire at the protesters injuring many. Rouf got shot on his chest and died on the spot.
On January 8, Rouf's brother Md Sakib Hasan filed the case with Uttara West Police Station in this connection.
