Polythene factory owner jailed in Brahmanbaria

A mobile court here sentenced a factory owner to one month of imprisonment and fined him Tk 1 lakh for producing banned polythene in Sarail Upazila of Brahmanbaria on Saturday. 

The convicted factory owner Kamal Mia is a resident of Bijoynagar Upazila.

The mobile court led by Sarail Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Md Mosharraf Hossain conducted a drive in Baishamura Village under Shahbazpur Union of the upazila at around 3:15 pm, and sentenced him. At that time, Kamal Mia was fined Tk 1 lakh, and in default, he has to suffer 15 more days in jail.

The mobile court also seized materials used in the production of the banned polythene, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations.
