The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Sunday unveiled a 15-member squad for the ICC Men's Champions Trophy 2025, set to take place in Pakistan and the UAE from February 19 to March 9. The announcement marks a blend of experience and fresh talent as Bangladesh prepares for the marquee event.

The squad was revealed just one day after Tamim Iqbal announced his retirement from international cricket. Consequently, Tamim was automatically excluded from the squad, while veteran all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan, who has been banned from bowling, will not be part of the team despite speculation that he could feature as a specialist batsman. Additionally, opener Liton Das had been struggling with a prolonged slump in form has been excluded. Liton's last 13 ODI innings have yielded no half-centuries, with disappointing scores of 2, 4 and 0 in the recent series against the West Indies. Besides, pacers like Hasan Mahmud and Shariful Islam were left out.

The squad sees the inclusion of Soumya Sarkar, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and the uncapped Parvez Hossain Emon as opening options. While Soumya brings experience, Emon's selection marks his debut in the ODI format.

Nazmul Hossain Shanto will continue to captain the side, with experienced campaigners Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah lending stability to the middle order. Mehidy Hasan Miraz is joined by spinners Rishad Hossain and Nasum Ahmed in the spin department. The pace attack features Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, young Tanjim Hasan Sakib and Nahid Rana.

Bangladesh's campaign will kick off with a challenging opener against India in Dubai on February 20. They will face New Zealand in Rawalpindi on February 24 before rounding off the group stage with a match against hosts Pakistan at the same venue on February 27.
