In a thrilling encounter at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, the Sylhet Strikers edged past the Khulna Tigers by eight runs in the 17th match of the Bangladesh Premier League on Sunday.

After being put into bat, the Strikers posted a competitive total of 182 for five in their allotted 20 overs. Opener Rony Talukdar anchored the innings with a solid 56 off 44 balls including five boundaries and two sixes. However, it was Zakir Hasan who stole the show with an unbeaten 75 off just 46 deliveries showcasing his prowess with three fours and six towering sixes. Aaron Jones provided a late blitz smashing 20 runs off a mere six balls propelling the Strikers to a formidable score.
For the Tigers, Abu Hider was the pick of the bowlers claiming two wickets for 25 runs in his 4 overs. Ziaur Rahman also chipped in with two wickets, with Nasum Ahmed taking the rest.
Chasing 183, the Tigers got off to a shaky start losing early wickets. William Bosisto stood tall amidst the collapse scoring a resilient 43 off 40 balls. Despite contributions from the middle order including 33 off 18 from Mohammad Nawaz, 28 off 16 from the bat of Mahidul Islam Ankon, a quickfire 15 from Darwish Rasooli and as many runs from the bat of skipper Mehidy Hasan Miraz. However, the Tigers fell short managing 174 for nine in their 20 overs.

Reece Topley, Tanzim Hasan Sakib and Ruyel Miah each took two wickets for Strikers with Nahidul Islam claiming one.
Zakir Hasan of Sylhet Strikers was named the Player of the Match for his sublime knock.

This victory propels the Sylhet Strikers up the league standings, showcasing their all-round capabilities, while the Khulna Tigers will need to regroup and address their batting vulnerabilities in upcoming matches.
