The dead body of another individual martyred during the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement has been found at the Dhaka Medical College (DMC) morgue.
It was stated by July Mass Uprising Special Cell secretary Hasan Imam on Sunday (January 12).
Talking to a private television channel, Hasan Imam said, "We found the dead bodies of six martyrs on Friday (January 10). All of them were unidentified. They are all under the city's Shahbagh Police Station. However, we received information on Friday night that a martyred family had identified another body which was under the Jatrabari Police Station. We are heading toward that direction. We will be able to confirm after carrying out all necessary examinations including the DNA test."
Meanwhile, the DMC sources said a woman, Selina Begum, went to the morgue there and claimed a dead body as of her husband. Her husband's name is Kabil Hossain, He was a fishmonger. At night on Saturday (January 11), Selina Begum and one Tanvir Ahmed Raju went to the morgue and identified the body.
Tanvir Ahmed Raju said Selina Begum, wife of Jabil Hossain, identified the body of her husband going to the morgue. Selina Begum works as a cook at their Karwan Bazar office. Her husband was a fish trader.
Selina Begum said their house is at Manik Nagar in Mugda. Kabil Hossain went out of the house in the morning of August 5 last. Since then he had not returned home. "We searched for him at many places but did not find him. We saw on a Facebook post on Friday night that six unclaimed bodies were still lying at the Dhaka Medical morgue. Then we went to the morgue directly and identified the body of Kabil kept in a freeze at the mortuary."
Dhaka Medical College Morgue in-charge Ramu Das said the bodies of seven individuals including a woman have been kept the DMC mortuary since the student movement in July last year. Postmortem of all the bodies have been conducted. As no relatives of them were found, the DNA tests of all the dead bodies were carried out. Meantime, many people claiming themselves relatives, came at the mortuary, but none of them could not identify the dead bodies.
Ramu Das also said, "A woman came at the morgue on Saturday evening and claimed a dead body as of her husband. I requested her to contact with the police station concerned."
