In Bangladesh, the harsh winter severely impacts rural students, disrupting their education due to the lack of proper warm clothing.
To alleviate their suffering and encourage school attendance, Sombhabona has initiated a nationwide winter clothing distribution program targeting children from primary schools, NGO schools, and madrasas.
The distribution has already been completed in 15 educational institutions across Dhaka, Rangpur, Pabna, Sirajganj, Gaibandha, Bogura, and Barisal. The initiative is now expanding its efforts in Sylhet, Rangpur, and Pabna, says a press release.
Mohammad Tofazzal Ali, a key patron of Sombhabona, stated, "Sombhabona has been tirelessly working to improve the lives of underprivileged individuals. I feel honored to be associated with their efforts. I believe that if we all stand together to support children, we can build a stronger and more prosperous nation, Insha'Allah."
Ariful Islam, the founder of Sombhabona, shared, "Since its inception, Sombhabona has been dedicated to ensuring education for children. Each year, we distribute winter clothing to students in remote areas, including those at our Pushpokoli School, with the aim of encouraging them to continue their education. We sincerely thank all donors and well-wishers for supporting this initiative and call upon everyone to extend a helping hand to the vulnerable during the winter season."
Teachers, parents, and other stakeholders from various educational institutions have warmly welcomed this initiative. They expressed their appreciation for such child-friendly and education-supportive programs and urged Sombhabona to continue its efforts. The ongoing winter clothing distribution campaign, which began on December 11, will conclude on January 31.
Founded in 2011, Sombhabona has been dedicated to improving the lives of marginalized and underprivileged communities. Over the past 12 years, the organization has successfully operated initiatives such as the Pushpokoli School for underprivileged children, the Onondito Naree project for women's empowerment through skill development, and the Shonirvor project for creating employment opportunities for youth.
