A court in Dhaka has ordered authorities concerned to seize tax files of former inspector general of police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed, and his elder daughter Farhin Rishta Binte Benazir.
Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib passed the orders on Monday, allowing separate pleas of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
Deputy Director of ACC and investigation officer Hafizul Islam filed two petitions and prayed to seize tax files of Benazir and Farhin.
On January 8, the court had ordered to seize tax files of Benazir’s wife Jishan Mirza and second daughter Tahsin Raisa Binte Benazir.
According to the documents of the cases, the former IGP acquired illegal wealth of Tk 9.44 crore and concealed information about properties of Tk 2.62 crore.
ACC mentioned that Jishan Mirza concealed information about wealth of Tk 16 crore and amassed illegal properties of Tk 31.69 crore. Benazir’s elder daughter Farhin Rishta Binte Benazir is accused of acquiring illegal wealth of Tk 8.75 crore and second daughter Tahsin is accused of amassing illegal wealth of Tk 5.59 crore.
On December 15, the ACC filed four cases against Benazir Ahmed and his wife and daughters.
