The former Narayanganj City Corporation Councillor and his son were arrested in Dhaka early Monday in several cases filed in Narayanganj over attacks on protesters and killings during the anti-discrimination student movement.
The detainee were NCC councillor Motiur Rahman, 55, president of Siddhirganj unit Juba League and was a close associate of former lawmaker Shamim Osman, and his son Moshiur Rahman, 29.
Sujon Hoque, inspector of Vatara Police Station, said they were detained from a flat in Bashundhara Residential Area around 2AM.
Abdullah Al Masud, additional superintendent of Narayanganj district police, said that as the cases were filed in Narayanganj, they will be shown arrested in those case and brought here.
Meanwhile, Motiur’s wife, Rokeya Rahman said her husband is a political leader, but their son has no involvement in politics.
She claimed that due to his father's political identity, her son has been implicated in several cases.
