The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has filed three cases against former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and four of her relatives on charges of abusing power to obtain government plots in the Purbachal New Town Project from Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha (RAJUK).

ACC Director General Md Akhter Hossain told this at a press briefing at ACC headquarters in the capital on Monday (January 13). All the three cases were filed with the ACC’s Integrated District Office-1 in Dhaka on Monday.

Four others are --Sheikh Rehana, her son Radwan Mujib Siddiq (Bobby), and her daughter Azmina Siddique and Tulip Siddique. Apart from this, 12 to 13 people, including officials of Rajuk and the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, made accused in each case.

The allocations include six plots, each measuring 10 kathas, in the diplomatic zone of Purbachal New Town project sector 27, specifically from road number 203, he added.
Rehana, Radwan and Azmina were named as the main accused in the three cases while Tulip and former PM Sheikh Hasina were named as co-accused.

ACC Director General said that this is the first time Tulip has been sued in a criminal case in Bangladesh.
He said the anti-graft watchdog investigation team has found sufficient evidence against Tulip that she influenced her aunt and former PM Sheikh Hasina in allocating plots in Purbachal New Town.

ACC deputy director Salahuddin filed the case against Sheikh Rehana while ACC assistant director SM Rashedul Hasan and assistant director Afnan Jannat Keya filed the cases against Rehana’s son Redwan Mujib Siddique Bobby, and her daughters Azmina respectively.
