Three remanded over Shimanto Shambhar robbery

A court in Dhaka has placed three suspects on remand in case filed on charges of theft of gold from a jewellery shop in Shimanto Shambhar market in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam passed orders on Monday (January 13) after police produced them before the court with 10-day remand.
 
Of them, Md Rubel, 28, and Shafiq alias Sohel, 35,were placed on two-day remand while Saddam Hossain was on one-day remand.

Earlier, the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested the three in connection with the theft of gold from a jewellery shop in Shimanto Shambhar market from different parts of Cumilla from January 9 to January 11 and recovered 50 bhori of stolen gold from them.

On January 3, members of the gang broke into the shop by cutting its shutter and stole around 159 bhori of gold within eight minutes. The shop owner filed a case with Dhanmondi police station in this regard.
