Tk 5 lakh fishing nets seized at Lalmohan

LALMOHAN, BHOLA, Jan 13: Authorities have seized a significant quantity of illegal fishing nets used for destroying aquatic resources in Lalmohan Upazila of the district early Sunday. 

Lalmohan Upazila Fisheries Department led by its Officer Ali Ahmed Akhand conducted a drive in different areas in the Tentulia River, and seized illegal 'behundi' nets worth around Tk 5 lakh.

At that time, 10 kilograms of fish including jatka were also confiscated. Later on, the illegal nets were burnt down and the seized fishes were distributed among the underprivileged.  
Upazila Marine Fisheries Officer Md Saidur Rahman, Field Assistants Md Nesar Uddin and Saiful Islam Sohag, Office Assistant Khokon Chandra Das, and local police personnel were also present during the drive.
