Road mishaps claim three lives in three districts

Three people were killed and two others injured in separate road accidents in three districts - Laxmipur, Bogura and Dinajpur.

KAMALNAGAR, LAXMIPUR: A youth was killed after being hit by a tractor in Kamalnagar Upazila of the district on Monday.

The accident took place in Karaitala Company Rastar Matha area on the Laxmipur-Ramgati regional road at noon.

The deceased was identified as Md Miraz Hossain, 21, son of Azad Uddin, a resident of Charfalkon area in the upazila. He was a chotpoti seller by profession.

It was known that Miraj was going to Torabganj area from Char Lawrence Bazar on an auto-rickshaw for selling chotpoti. On the way, a woods-laden tractor coming from the opposite direction hit the auto-rickshaw in Karaitala Company Rastar Matha area, leaving him dead on the spot.

Being informed, police recovered the body.

Locals, however, seized the killer tractor but its driver managed to flee the scene.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kamalnagar Police Station (PS) Mohammad Tauhidul Islam confirmed the incident.

BOGURA: A man was killed as his motorcycle collided head-on with a human hauler in Nandigram Upazila of the district on Monday.

The accident took place in Bhuskur Bazaar area on the Nandigram-Deugram road under the upazila at around 9:30 am. The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman, 38, an employee of Rajshahi Krishi Unnayan Bank in Narhatta Branch at Kahalu and son of Mehedi Hasan of Dariapur Village in Nandigram.

Nandigram PS OC Tarikul Islam said that Mizanur was going to his office in the morning. On the way, his motorcycle collided head-on with a human hauler (locally known as votvoti) in the area, which left him critically injured.

Locals then rescued the injured and rushed him to Bogura Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

However, necessary steps would be taken in this regard, the OC added.

GHORAGHAT, DINAJPUR: A man was killed and two others were injured after a truck hit an auto-van in Ghoraghat Upazila in Dinajpur district on Sunday.

The accident took place in Velaine Bhandaribazar area of the upazila at around 4 pm.
 
The deceased was identified as Mizanur Rahman, 40, son of Abu Bakar Siddique, a resident of Kulanandapur Village in the upazila. 

It was known that a truck hit an auto-van in the area in the afternoon, leaving three people injured.

Locals then rescued the injured and took them to Ghoraghat Upazila Health Complex, where the on-duty doctor declared Mizanur dead. Ghoraghat PS OC M Nazmul Haque confirmed the incident.
